Halo 3 doesnt play in HD

Ever wondered why Halo 3 has so many jaggies? The anti-aliasing may be off, but the game’s been upscaled from a rather unusual resolution – 1152x640 (640p!) to the HD 720p resolution of 1280x720. Here's Bumgie's statement on the same :

The reason we chose this slightly unorthodox resolution and this very complex use of two buffers is simple enough to see – lighting. We wanted to preserve as much dynamic range as possible – so we use one for the high dynamic range and one for the low dynamic range values. Both are combined to create the finished on screen image.

In fact, if you do a comparison shot between the native 1152x640 image and the scaled 1280x720, it’s practically impossible to discern the difference. We would ignore it entirely were it not for the internet’s propensity for drama where none exists. In fact the reason we haven’t mentioned this before in weekly updates, is the simple fact that it would have distracted conversation away from more important aspects of the game, and given tinfoil hats some new gristle to chew on as they catalogued their toenail clippings.

The game’s lighting is in fact remarkable, but the jaggies are also really apparent which makes you cringe during a few scenes in the single player campaign. The multiplayer on the whole seems a lot better, and the gameplay in both modes more than make up for the visual flaws in the game. Nash and I have been hooked on to the Halo 3 MP since while now, and we love every bit of it. Stay tuned to Tech2.com for a review of the same.

17 year old hacks iphone

For just the second time, someone has managed to hack an iphone. This time, a skilled teenager managed to free an iPhone from the shackles of AT&T. 17-year-old George Holz of New Jersey cracked open his iPhone and hacked it, and now it works with his T-Mobile account. It’s not an easy hack - it takes two hours and requires soldering and software work. You have to admire the kid for cracking the case (and voiding the warranty) on an expensive piece of hardware. He can’t get the visual voicemail to work but otherwise, he says, the phone works fine.

1) From google, take a picture of city night lights, something like this

2) Make a new document in photoshop with a white background. Write out your text

3) Take the ciy lights image and open it with photoshop. Go to image-adjustments-threshold and press ok

4) Now with the marquee tool, select a part of the image which has maximum lights. Copy it and paste it on a new layer on the document with the text

5) Now, select the new layer by ctrl clicking on it. With the layer stlll in selection press on the text layer

6) Press shift+ctrl+i to invert the selection. Now press delete.

I got a L6!

Hey all. Its been a long time since i posted, actually I was little busy with holiday homework and stuff. There's loads to tell you. But most importantly, I got a new mobile, L6. Just 10.9 mm thick it is one of the sleekest phone I've ever seen. It has a 1.2 mp VGA camera which delivers really clear pictures compared to Nokia 6681's 1.3 mp.

Im persian!!

Hi all. I just found out that my name is persian. Well it is hindu also as persian and sanskrit share the word "Arya" which refers to the aryans. "Aryaman" literally means the protector of the aryans. Aryans are connected very well to west asia and persian empire.

AryAman was also the name of Khashayar's (Achaemenid) naval commander.

So i conclude the meaning of my name has indian as well as persian roots..WoW!!

Minutes to midnight.. or minutes to devastation?

Linkin Park's 3rd studio album "Minutes to Midnight" is due to release on may 14, 2007 in the world and on may 15th 2007 in North America. The title is a reference to Doomsday clock where minutes to midnight is the proximity of the world to a nuclear destruction. At the time of the release of the title, the time was 5 minutes to midnight. Mike Shinoda has explained that the album has various meanings -

Don't take that at face value. There are layers of meaning, most are metaphoric...It’s definitely a reference to the doomsday clock—the Apocalypse—a metaphor for death and rebirth, but it could also be applied to the music industry, sort of tongue-in-cheek

THE CHANGE.. WHATS NEW?

In a recent interview with MTV.com, Chester Bennington explained that the nu metal sound from their previous album has been completely removed. He also explained that the new album is a mixture of punk, classical rock and hip-hop beats. In the December issue of the blender magazine, Chester says, "Rick has brought a more of a stripped down, classical rock, hip-hop feel. We are using vintage guitars and drums carved out of wood and skin to get a more tribal feel. Its definitely not nu metal."

Chester also confirmed that the "rap/rock" and"nu metal" that Linkin Park was known for is almost non existent in the new album.

This time, Mike Shinoda will be singing a lot more. It may seem that he is not on the records but he is doing a lot of harmonics. He also sings a couple of songs alone. Linkin Park is presenting themselves in a new way, they've had haircuts, new clothing, its just a new new thing..!!

Another thing to note is the "parental advisory" symbol which appears the first time in any linkin park album(exception of collision course jay-z and linkin park). This time a couple of songs will be having course language.

The album cover is also interesting. Its totally different from the grungy and complicated covers of reanimation, hybrid theory and meterora. The cover is rather simple. For the first time, any of the six members will be appearing on the cover. Also, this will be the first time that Brad Delson will be giving a solo performance.


I wish all of the best to Linkin Park for their new album... but will this "new thing" be as successful as their past? That remains the BIG QUESTION. We will find out in due course of time

I just saw the W850i and thought i must blog about it as soon as possible. Its sleek design and smooth slider make it look very sexy and at a mere 3.9 x 1.8 x 0.5 inches it is as sleek as it can get. At 94 g, the phone is rather light. It is available in two colors- urban gray and style white. The 240x320 pixel screen is a 262,144-color TFT.

With expandable memory, things become very easy. It supports a micro SD card and has 12MB internal phone memory. It supports EDGE , GSM 850, GSM 900, GSM 1800, GSM 1900.

The camera is a 2.0 megapixel camera with 4x zoom, video recording and picture blogging.

The w580i comes with a A2DP bluetooth stereo which helps in transmitting high quality stereo from phone to headset and other devices. It supports mp3, wav, aac, wmv etc. Megabass improves the sound quality of the phone. A music tool called the melody composer/MIDI/ music DJ comes preloaded in the phone with the help of which you can create your own polyphonic ringtones. That was all about the Sony Ericson W580i. At about Rs. 17,000 ( about $380) i think the phone is economic and worth buying if you want a good combination of a walkman and a phone.

Vista on a mac..!

Boot camp is a software from Apple that allow Mac users to run windows OS on their macs. It allows you to dual boot Windows and Mac OS on Intel based Macs. It is available on the apple boot camp download page. The download is rather easy, you just have to enter your e-mail address and the type of computer you are going to use with boot cam, but the download is rather bulky..around 84 MB.

There is going to be an update to the beta version 1.1.12 so that it will boot even Windows Vista!. SO if you use a Mac and had a desire to check out Windows Vista you can now do so!

Change the color of eyes..!

hi all. Today we will be learning how to change the color of the eyes. Have u ever wanted to have colored-eyes?If yes, then you can learn it by the end of this tutorial

1)First lets take a picture.




2) Double click on the background layer to unlock it. Name it as "Final".

3) create a new layer by clicking on the icon left to the dustbin icon in the layer window. Name this layer as "eyes" and reduce it's opactiy to 50%.

4) now take a hard round brush and adjust the size according to the size of your eyes. Paint on your eyes. (the round portion). Make sure that you are accurate

5) Ctrl click on the eyes layer to select it. Hide this layer by clicking on the eye icon left to the layer.

6) while still in selection of the painted area, click on the final layer. You will find something like this -


5) Now, go to image-adjustments-color balance or press ctrl+ b


6) play with the colors till you get the desired color

You can give it any color of your choice depending on the mood of the picture. I gave it a light clear blue...

It's Cool Vs. Nerdy.. Jobs/Gates

There's a juicy Jobs/Gates feud doing the rounds, and it's based on a set of TV ads. You might have seen print ads of this sort- a geeky-looking person in a business suit, and a PC beneath him."I'm a PC", and a "cool"-looking teenager on the right clad in jeans, and beneath him, "I'm a mac." Similar to that are the new TC ads, but these actually use characters that look like Gates and Jobs. The nerdy guy, of course, looks like Gates.


Tech new Web site theregister.co.uk has called the long-standing fued between the two men a "tedious psychodrama between two megalomaniacs,: and it all hings around that Jobs takes Gates' success personally.

In fact, Jobs once said, "The only problem with Microsoft is they just have no taste , and what that means is- "I don't mean in a small way I mean that in a big way."

Asked about the ads, Gates said he hadn't seen it. Then he said he had.

And then- fireworks! For no we can see.. Ballmer sinks Microsoft shares..

Steve Ballmer recently said Wall Street's current expectations for revenue from Vsta may be too "optimistic". Everyone around got that sinking feeling: Microsoft shares dropped by more than 2% shortly after.

"I'm really excited about how enthusiastic people are about Vista but I think some of the revenue forecasts for Vista in 2008 are overly aggressive," Ballmer continued in the meeting for financial analysts.


We're not sure of the financial aspects of all this, but we get the general idea that Ballmer shouldn't (needn't) have said what he did.


People also asked Ballmer about the Jobs vs. Gates TV ads. "I'll give Apple credit for what it's done," Ballmer said. It's not like they've really grown a lot of market share (through the commercials).

"Remember when you're a little tiny niche guy who owns about 2% of the worldwide market, you can be cute one time and it helps you to grow."

Pirated CD's are a better option!. I hate steam!

I borrowed this original CD of Counter Strike which included these games - Half life, Condition Zero, and Counter Strike anthology. I was rather happy as I got hold of this CD which i had been desperately wanting for a long long time.

I inserted the first disk. The setup installed Steam, which took about 2 minutes. So far so good. Now it proceeded to installing the three games. Done in 5 minutes ( my insides were jumping to play the game). I tried running the game. It gave this error -

Steam.exe (main exception): Unable to load steam.dll

I called up my other friend and told him about the error. He simply laughed at me for borrowing the original CD rather than the pirated one. He said that his pirated CD never gave any such problem

Now steam being a rather big software should have checked that the CD doesn't have a file like steam.dll missing.

Well i googled for the file and downloaded it from dll-files.com

I got the DLL file. The game has started working. Well it says that it is updating steam.


Well the moral of the story is that PIRATED CD'S ARE A BETTER OPTION! Don't go for an original CD guys it is rather frustrating.

The second disadvantage is that the original CD game only works with an internet connection. If you do not have an INTERNET CONNECTION do not buy an original copy.

"The three finger salute" in the world of computers means ctrl + alt + z. This question once came in one of my quizzes. I was really dazed as I had no idea of the answer. Well i ended up writing the answer as McAfee logo (lol) <:p>. Well I hope that this information was useful as I do not want anyone else to be dazed like that!

Hey all. I have been trying the whole day to replace the blogger favicon with my personal favicon. A favicon is an icon which appears towards the left of your address bar. It can be a png, ico, or even a gif file. But can i do it on blogspot? Somebody please help..

I am in class tenth!

You wont believe this. I'm in class tenth!.. i need to study this year man, after all its the "board" year. People say that if you get good marks in boards it may change your life. Maybe that is true. I have to study anyways, because mom has promised a bike if I get good marks :P. Some people say that tenth is difficult while some say it is just like a normal class. Well I think the latter, but I will have to study harder than I do in a normal year. No more fun, no more bunking classes for CODE, no more suji (lol). Well I hope that I will keep up this thinking till the boards!

My performance in exams..was BAD..!

Hi all. Its been a long time since i posted. After all, my exams were going around. Any ways now that they are over, and the results out too, ill post like hell.

Let us talk of my result. My marks weren't exactly "bad" but i could have done much better ( my mom also thinks so). I got 86% in my half-yearlies, but I've dropped a bit this time -


SUBJECT HALF-YEARLIES FINALS

Maths 89 94 (this one was better)

Science 95 88 (maths and science swapped)!

Sanskrit 90 80

English 72 71

Social Science 83 75

Percentage 86% 81.6%



I have dropped about 5%, that is 25 marks!

Now that is bad but the checking was rather strict . My mom thinks I am making excuses but believe me I'm not! You can see that in the average performance of the class, the first rank is just 87%!

Which language does Amr Diab sing in?

Many of us might have heard Amr Diab's songs. Well if you haven't then you are missing out on things people!!..

Now Amr Diab is from Miṣr ( Egypt), where the official language is Maṣrī, مصري). Maṣrī is also known as "Egyptian Arabic". This language is a modernized form of the classic Arabic.

But does Diab sing in his mother tongue?

I am a little confused about this. Is Arabic different from Maṣrī??
